Gymnastics: Springfield sets new team record, RIC posts 179.3

Retiring Head Coach Cheryl Raymond saw her last home meet result in the team’s highest score in history as the Springfield Pride put together a 188.350 Sunday afternoon. Visiting Rhode Island College put up a 179.300.

On Vault Kristin Feliu of SC led the way flying to a 9.6. Teammate Marissa DeAngelo was second with her 9.575. RIC’s Emma Hartan cracked the top 3 with a 9.525.

When the team’s moved to the the Bars Springfield’s Brianna Kerr took first swinging to a 9.65 edging teammate Lauren Pocius and her 9.625. Also with the Pride, Marissa DeAngelo and Nikki Caradonna each had 9.35s for third. Courtney Osborn’s 8.9 was RIC’s top performance.

On the ever perilous Balance Beam, Abby Clark scored a 9.6 to win the event. DeAngelo was second holding steady with a 9.475 and Caradonna posted a 9.425. Osborn led RIC with a 9.3.

Finally on the high impact Floor, Clark flipped to a 9.675 and Pocius had a 9.65 to lock up 1st and 2nd place. DeAngelo snagged third with a 9.525. Hartan’s 9.375 was the best for Rhode Island College.

Seniors Clark, Pocius, Caradonna, and Sarah Libuda were honored as well during the meet. Springfield and RIC both head to NCGA East Regionals next weekend at Ursinus.
