BRIDGEPORT, CT- On senior night in Bridgeport, the Purple Knights put together a combined season high score of 195.475. The visiting Brown Bears scored a 192.925. View the videos filmed for the The Gymternet and this site here:
Bridgeport’s Kimberly Stewart and Sasha Tsikhanovich anchored their team on vault and put up 9.775s to win that event Brown’s Jorden Mitchell scored a 9.725, and Diana Walters had a 9.7.
On the Uneven Bars Tsikhanovich led the event scoring a 9.9. Her teammate Amber Hill was second thanks to a 9.85 and fellow Purple Knight Christine Liautaud was third scoring a 9.825 edging Kelsey Campbell also of UB. Alexandra Chretien had the best finish of Brown posting a 9.775.
Brianna Comport of UB won Beam posting a 9.850. Brown’s Regan Butchness was second as she held steady for a 9.8 in a tough rotation for her team. Tsikhanovich and Mitchell each had 9.775 for third.
On the floor, Tsikhanovich paid homage to her mother, Natalia Lashchenova, and used her choreography on the way to a 9.975 finish. Randi Cutolo of UB posted a 9.9 for second and Walters earned third with a 9.875.
For her efforts Tsikhanovich took the All Around scoring a combined 39.425. UB’s Kelsey Campbell put together a 38.875 narrowly topping Mitchell’s 38.725.
Brown for their part tied or set 9 personal bests (source: Brown Athletics) including Mitchell’s AA, Butchness on Beam, Walters on Floor and Bars, Brooke Williams on Floor, Anya Olson in the All Around and others. The Bears had to put together this effort without Caroline Morant who was unable to compete that evening.
After the meet seniors Tsikhanovich, Caitlin Perry, and Chisaki Hagata were honored by the team. Bridgeport heads on the road this weekend and Brown hosts their final home meet vs. Yale.
