Bridgeport v. RIC Report & Bridgeport Video

BRIDGEPORT, CT – On senior night for the University of Bridgeport Purple Knights Gymnastics Team, the home squad put up a 193.950 as visiting Division 3 Rhode Island College scored a 180.250. As a note the two teams compete in different competitive conference structures.

Julianna Roland of UB had the top score for her team and the meet when she landed a 9.750 followed by teammates Jordan Streete and Gabrielle Kistner who each had 9.725. Purple Knight senior Maya Reimers scored a 9.7 as well. Kyndell Yett of RIC continued her Vaulting success with a 9.4 to lead her team. followed by Christa Vaccaro and Kelsey Gates who posted 9.350s.

On the Uneven Bars, Hayley Bangart of Bridgeport set the tone of the team and the meet with her 9.8, as Roland swung to a 9.775, and Regan Dillon and Kathryn Doran scored 9.725s. Gates was the best RIC performer on the day.

When the teams faced the Beam, Reimers won the day with a 9.875, Roland was second thanks to a 9.775 and Bridgeport leadoff performer Nicole Javinett posted a 9.675. Grace Davis paced Rhode Island College with a solid 9.425.

The fireworks came on Floor as Reimers landed a 9.950 score in her final home routine, as Roland hit a 9.8, Kistner was third with a 9.775, Molly Grau netted a 9.75 and recent addition to the lineup, Amanda Loo put up a 9.7. For RIC, Davis earned a 9.575, Yett a 9.450, and Chandler’s 9.325 rounded out the top 3 for the Anchorwomen.

In the All Around Roland’s high scoring ways propelled her to a 39.1 and Gates compiled a 35.650 for her efforts.

The team honored Seniors Taylor Jangda, Sarah Proulx, and Maya Reimers after the meet. Jangda has dealt with a variety of injuries keeping her from competition but has remained from the team. Proulx has been a fixture in the Vault lineup this season after dealing with injuries herself. Reimers has been a critical part of the team throughout her time at UB excelling on every event she appears in.

The team also announced this was the last home meet for longtime Assistant Coach Rebecca Ferraro who has been vital to the team’s growth under Head Coach Knox’s tenure.
