BRIDGEPORT, CT – Four of New England’s NCAA gymnastics teams were in one place Sunday afternoon as the University of Bridgeport Purple Knights hosted the Yale Bulldogs, Brown Bears, and Rhode Island College Anchorwomen. UB posted 193.625 total team score, Brown a 190.8, Yale a 190.375, and RIC a 175.825 on the day.
Bridgeport Sophomore Julianna Roland won the All Around with her 39.125 score continuing her success from last season, Yale’s Alyssa Firth had a 38.475, her teammate Jade Buford posted a 37.675, Brown’s Jasmine Lee was right behind her with a 37.625 and RIC’s Kelsey Gates put up a 36.6.
On the Vault, Yale’s Firth was First with her 9.8 followed by First Year teammate Aimee Titche and her 9.75. Roland and Brown’s Alyssa Gardner had 9.7s. Kyndel Yett was RIC’s top performer with a 9.4.
Jacey Baldovino of Yale would take the day’s highest Uneven Bars score with her 9.875, followed by Bridgeport’s Kat Doran and Brown’s Mei Li Costa who both had 9.85s. Roland and Buford each had 9.825s. Gates of RIC scored a 9.150 to lead her team.
Roland and Brown’s Emma Hansen were the top scorers on the Balance Beam with strong 9.825s. Costa had a 9.8 followed by Katy Koopman’s 9.775 for UB. Charlotte Cooperman and Firth had 9.7s for Yale’s best and Shaina Benz was RIC’s top Beam worker with an 8.9.
On the Floor Exercise, Maya Reimers of UB took first with a 9.825, Roland had a 9.775 and fellow Purple Knight Gabrielle Kistner scored a 9.750. Gardner flipped to a 9.725, Firth had Yale’s best of a 9.6 and Gates scored a 9.5 for RIC.
