Springfield, SCSU, Brockport, & Brown Find Success in Quad Meet

SPRINGFIELD, MA- The Springfield College Pride set a new school record on Floor Exercise Saturday afternoon at Blake Arena posting a 48.575 as part of an overall team score of 188.3. Southern Connecticut State University posted a 191 for the first place tally, narrowly ahead of Brockport State’s 190.975 and Brown’s 190.660.

Jessica Clemens of SC won the All Around with a new personal best 38.175 score. SCSU’s Cadi Borsellino put up a 37.550, Stephanie Mager of Brockport had a 37.375 and Ali Rushlow of SC had a 36.125 on the day.

Mager won the Vault with her 9.6 Anne Christman of Brown and Alexandra Lesperance of SCSU had 9.525s, Madi Bowen of SC, Diana Manzano of Brown, and and Alexandra Avendano had 9.5s. The Vault was a very crowded scoreboard as nearly the entire field finished with a 9.35 or above.

Emma Hansen won the Uneven Bars for Brown with her 9.75, and teammate Claire Ryan swung to a 9.675. Briana Kerr and Taylor Jackson both hit 9.65s for Springfield College, as did Michaela Gilbert of Southern Connecticut. Miranda Shaine had Brockport’s highest score of 9.575.

On Beam, Taylor Keough of Brockport scored a 9.75 for first place. Regan Butchness of Brown held steady for a 9 .725 score, Shelby Schumaker of Brockport had a 9.7 as did SCSU’s Morgan Gatewood. Ali Rushlow’s 9.625 was first among Springfield College gymnasts.

On Floor, Brittany Vasile had a 9.85 for first. Clemens and Rushlow of SC, Mager of Brockport, Kylyn Dawkins and Avendano of SCSU all had 9.775s. Kathleen Aberger of Southern had a 9.75, Tali Twomey of SC had a .725 as did Keylea Brothers of SCSU. Madi Bowen, Schumaker, and Brown’s Emma Hansen had 9.7s. Floor was another event where nearly everyone found success as most of the field was at 9.550 or above.

Springfield put together their new record thanks to personal bests from Clemens and Rushlow, along with Twomey, and Bowen all getting 9.7s or above, and Victoria Gendreau’s new personal best of 9.6 added to the counted scores. It has been some time since Springfield has had this much fire power in their Floor rotation.
