SPRINGFIELD, MA – In a quad meet at Blake Arena Saturday afternoon, the D1 Brown University Bears scored a 193.425 tying their season high, the Springfield Pride tallied a 189.050, and fellow D3 teams SUNY Cortland Red Dragons scored a 188.425, and Rhode Island College posted a 182.575.
Brown’s Jorden Mitchell won the All-Around thanks to a 38.875, Springfield’s Marissa DeAngelo posted a 38.425, her teammate Jessica Clemens scored a personal best 38.025. RIC’s Allie DiBiase posted a 37.075, and Violent Pinola of RIC had a 34.775.
Mitchell won Vault thanks to a 9.775, her teammate Julia Green was second with a 9.725. DeAngelo hit a 9.7 tying Rachel Filipski of Cortland for third. Bailey Gildemeyer of Cortland and Anne Christman each had 9.675s and a pair of Red Dragons, Lily Szafranski and Meghan Cobb hit 9.6s. Allie DiBiase had RIC’s best score of 9.55.
Anya Olson, also of Brown, took first on the Uneven Bars, and her teammate Maggie McAvoy swung to a 9.65. Briana Kerr led her team with a third place 9.6 score which she shared with Brown’s Claire Ryan. Sidney McConnell had Cortland’s best score of 9.5, and Allie DiBiase had RIC’s top number of 9.175.
Brown swept the top 3 places on Beam as Mitchell put up a 9.775, Regan Butchness had a 9.75, and Green a 9.7. DeAngelo’s, Cortland’s McKenna Passalacqua, and Ryan had 9.675s right behind the top 3. Grace Davis had a 9.525 to lead RIC on the event as well.
Mitchell took Floor as well with a 9.85, followed by Green and Christman’s 9.775s. Passalacqua led Cortland with her 9.725 followed by McAvoy’s 9.7, Gildemeyer’s 9.675 and then DeAngelo’s personal best and team leading 9.65 which she shared with teammate Tali Twomey. Kyndel Yett had a 9.45 for the top RIC score.
Brown’s score was even more notable as they did this all without Caroline Morant who has been their anchor on numerous events this season.
It was also Senior Day where Springfield honored Jenna Croteau, Marissa DeAngelo, Corri Greis, Kelsi Levesque, Olivia Morrell, and Nicola Silva, as well as their student manager.
