Gymnastics: West Chester v. Springfield

WEST CHESTER, PA- It was a rare day when both teams participating in a dual meet set new team records but that is exactly what happened as both the visiting Springfield College Pride and the West Chester University Rams.

WCU had a 194.4 for the new record and SC a 189.3 for their own. WCU also set a new Bars record and Beam record.

On the Vault, Majesta Valentine took first with a 9.825 followed by fellow Ram Rachel Blair and her 9.7. Selena Swanger of WCU and Marissa DeAngelo of SC had 9.6s. Madi Bowen (SC) vaulted to a 9.55 and Meghan Chan (WCU) an Nicole Silva (SC) had 9.525s.

On the Uneven Bars, Chan, Valentine, and their teammate Myranda Marshall all took first with 9.75s. Isabella D’Orazio of WCU hit a 9.725, and Briana Kerr led SC with a 9.7. Jessica Clemens (SC) posted a 9.65, Lindsey Mathis (WCU) had a 9.6, DeAngelo swung to a 9.575, and Jordan Miranda of WCU tallied a 9.5.

Valentine won Beam with a 9.85 (tying her own school record) leading the entire 5 counted scores of WCU into places one through 5. Sarah Boyd had a 9.825, Chan a 9.8, Rose Wortman a 9.75, and a Swanger a 9.725. DeAngelo led Springfield with her 9.7 and Jessica Clemens had a 9.575.

On Floor, West Chester closed out with a bang with all six gymnasts scoring in the top 5. Valentine flipped to a 9.875, Swanger had a 9.75, Madison Brent and Emily Loughery each posted 9.725s, and Rose Wortman and Casandra Hageman had 9.675s. DeAngelo led SC with her 9.675 too. Lauren White had a 9.75 and Madi Bowen and Clemens each hit 9.525s.

In the All-Around the result was a 39.3 school record for Valentine. DeAngelo’s good day brought her a new school record of 38.55. Clemens had a solid 37.875 as well.
