Gymnastics: SCSU v. Bridgeport

NEW HAVEN, CT- The University of Bridgeport Purple Knights scored a 194.075 and the Southern Connecticut State Owls scored a team record 192.000 on Saturday afternoon. SCSU also picked up a team record of 48.5 on Beam during the dual meet.

Kimberly Stewart of UB won Vault with her 9.825 as her teammate Nina Whittaker hit a 9.8, as Kelsey Campbell and SCSU’s Tiffany Elliot had 9.75s. Brieanna Zine of UB picked up a 9.725 and Alexandra Avendano of Southern landed a 9.7. Kylyn Dawkins of Southern and Julianna Drapkin had 9.55s as well.

On Beam, Bridgeport’s Brianna Comport scored a 9.9 to take 1st. Kathleen Aberger and Rotem Porat of SCSU both held steady for 9.8s.. Campbell posted a 9.725 for the third highest score of the meet.

Carol Chiles of UB put up a 9.675, Keylea Brothers of the Owls and Dawkins had 9.65s and Avendano added a 9.6.

On Bars, Christine Liautaud of UB took first with her 9.8. Teammates Maritza Futch and Campbell swung to 9.775s. Aberger had a 9.725 and Thomara Powell-Brown and Rachel DiCarlo of Bridgeport each had 9.7s. Southern’s Jacqueline Kutcher launched to a 9.65, and teammate Kasey Kilmurray acquired a 9.5.

On Floor, Comport scored a 9.9, her teammate Maya Reimers scored a 9.875 for second. Avendano and Campbell flipped to 9.825s and Stewart landed a 9.8. Abigail Bensley and Brothers had 9.75s for the owls, and Elliot had a 9.725. Aberger and Bridgeport’s Randi Cutolo hit 9.675s.

Campbell scored a 39.075 in the All Around as well.
