PROVIDENCE, RI – In an ECAC contest Friday night, Clarkson downed Brown decisively 7-2. The first period was an uneven affair as the Golden Knights were often on the attack, but didn’t put it into the net until 13:45. Troy Josephs teed up a shot from the middle of the offensive zone assisted by Terrance Amorosa. Nic Pierog followed minutes later putting in a rebound of an A. J. Fossen shot from right in front at 17:06. An additional assist went to Perry D’Arrisso.
The second period would be decisive as Sheldon Rempal put it in the net at 2:27 assisted by Amorosa and Jordan Boucher.
At 4:57 Nico Sturm added to the lead assisted by Haralds Egle and Aaron Thow. This chased Brown starting goalie Gavin Nieto from the game to be replaced by Tim Ernst.
Ten minutes later Sturm shot it again at close range for assisted by Greg Moro and Egle at 14:43.
Brown’s attempt to come back in the third thanks to goals from Tyler Bird and Sam Lafferty was thwarted by a second Josephs goal and a Sam Vigneault tally to keep the difference at 7-2.
Nieto ended up with 11 saves on 15 shots and Ernst made 14 saves on 17. Clarkson’s Jake Kielly made 28 saves on 30 Brown shots.
For Clarkson, Shane Kuzmeski and Amorosa had 2 blocks, James de Haas, Moro, Perry D’Arrisso, and Pierog all had a block each. For Brown, Brady Schoo had 3 blocks, Bird had 2, and Max Gottlieb, Brent Beaudoin, Andrew Doane, Tommy Marchin, Conner Wynne, and Lafferty had 1 each.
