HAMDEN, CT- The Quinnipiac Bobcats took care of the Colgate Raiders in decisive fashion Friday night picking up a 4-1 victory.
Landon Smith started the scoring off by shooting the puck top shelf by Colgate’s Colton Point at 12:47 in the first. In the second QU cemented their lead. Bo Pieper had the eventual game winner putting in a rebound after Point made the initial save at 4:47 Later on, Luke Shiplo capitalized when Point made a diving save but the puck was loose and he sent it over the goalie for a 3-0 lead at 8:37. After a blatant QU penalty, Colgate had a chance and they took it, as Jared Cockrell shot it past QU’s Andrew Shortridge at 16:56. QU would respond quickly at 17:31 and during a scrum in front of the net Tanner MacMaster whapped an airborne puck baseball style in the net for the 4-1 lead.
No scoring would follow in the third and that was that. Point made 45 saves on 49 QU shots. Shortridge made 24 saves on 25 Colgate shots. Quinnipiac rises to 13-9-2 (8-5-1 in the ECAC) Colgate drops to 4-12-4 (2-5-1 in the ECAC).
