BRIDGEPORT, CT- In a meeting of Connecticut’s D2 teams Friday night, the University of Bridgeport Purple Knights took the win with a 193.525 over Southern Connecticut State Owls who put up a 187.350.
Kimberly Stewart of UB won Vault tallying 9.775 and edging teammate Ajiea Hargrave and her 9.75 and Kelsey Campbell of UB and Nichole Pruchnik of SCSU who each had 9.575s.
On Uneven Bars, Bridgeport’s Brielle Wilchuck won first swinging to a 9.750. Campbell and fellow Knight Christine Liautaud scored 9.725s. Kate Aberger was the best Owl scoring a 9.575.
On Beam, Carol Chiles of UB won the event scoring a 9.725. Campbell’s 9.7 and UB’s Rachel DiCarlo both had 9.7s. Nicole Pruchnik led SCSU with her 9.675.
Randi Cutolo and Brianna Comport both of UB won Floor flipping to 9.825s. Pruchnik was third with a 9.775.
Campbell was the lone All Arounder and compiled a 38.550 score on the night.
UB Notes
DiCarlo’s 9.55 and Hope Tralli’s 9.5 rounded the Knights counted scores on Vault.
Thomara Powell-Brown had a 9.575 and Delaney Cahill a 9.5 to make up the rest of the team’s scores on Uneven Bars.
Brittany Capozzi’s 9.65 and Tralli’s 9.5 completed Bridgeport’s counted scores on Beam.
Kelly Aycock’s 9.75 just missed third place, followed by Brittany Capozzi’s 9.725, and Ajiea Hargrave’s 9.7 as the Purple Knights did quite well on the FX.
SCSU Notes
Beyond Pruchnik, Rachel de la Torre flew to a 9.550, Alexandra Avendano a 9.525 and Kylyn Dawkins had a 9.5 as part of the overall team effort.
It was a rough Bars rotation but Jennifer Rochefort added a 9.475 behind Aberger’s team leading score
On Beam, after Pruchnik’s high score, Dawkins, and Rochefort each held steady for 9.5s and specialist Rotem Porat contributed a 9.475 as well
Avendano had the team’s second highest Floor score of 9.7. Abigail Bensley put up a 9.65 and Aberger joined the lineup and flipped to a 9.5.
