Gymnastics: Ohio State, Yale at Rutgers

PISCATAWAY, NJ-In a meet Saturday, Rutgers hosted Ohio State from the Big Ten as well as Yale from the Ivy League. The end result was Ohio State scoring a season high 196.350 while Rutgers picked up a season high as well of 194.9 and Yale put together a 190.3 in action Saturday.

Jaime Stone of Ohio State won Vault scoring a 9.875 and her teammate Alexis Mattern flew to a 9.85 as fellow Buckeyes Jaine Van Putten, Katlyn Hofland, and Taylor Harrison all had 9.8s. Riahanah Ali and Michelle Amoresano both led Rutgers with 9.775s. Megan Ryan was tops for Yale on the event with a 9.75. Ohio State’s Vault tally of 49.125 was season high. Yale also put up a 48.025 to set a new season top score as well.

Hofland and RU’s Makenzey Shank each had 9.875s to win the Uneven Bars. Samantha Kent swung to a 9.85 for the third place score. Allison Bushman was first among Bulldogs with her 9.725. RU’s 48.675 team score was their best of the year so far.

Hofland also took beam with her 9.925. Libby Groden of RU landed a 9.85 as Mattern and Stefanie Merkle of OSU each had 9.825s. Brittney Sooksengdao led Yale with a 9.7. OSU’s 49.1 team score was a new high for the season and Rutgers also set a new season high with a 48.825

Mattern won Floor flipping to a 9.9, Harrison’s 9.85 took second, and Stone and RU’s Claire Jones had 9.825s. Camilla Opperman was first for the Bulldogs with a 9.625. OSU put together a 49.075 which was their best mark of 16 on the FX. RU’s 48.775 was also their top score in 2016.

Harrison took first in the All Around with her 39.175 edging Groden’s 39.05. Ryan scored a 38.1 and her teammate Anella Anderson had a 38.025.
