Gymnastics: Bridgeport v. Cornell

BRIDGEPORT, CT-Two teams on the rise met on Sunday afternoon as the University of Bridgeport Purple Knights hosted the Cornell Big Red. UB picked up the win with a 194.175 to Cornell’s 192.225, though both teams gained valuable scores in the overall NCAA picture. Cornell’s 48.775 on Beam was also a new team record (According to Cornell Athletics).


Bridgeport’s Ajiea Hargrave won Vault with a personal best of 9.725. Cornell’s Alicia Bair was second scoring a 9.650 edging UB’s Rachel DiCarlo and Hope Tralli who set personal bests of 9.625 and their teammate Kimberly Stewart who had the same tally.

UB’s Christine Liautaud tied a personal high of 9.825 to win Uneven Bars. Fellow Purple Knight Martiza Futch scored a 9.775, and Cornell’s Kaitlin Green swung to a 9.75

On Beam, Cornell swept the top three places thanks to Green’s 9.875, and Lyanda Dudley and Joy Gage each putting up 9.775s. Brianna Comport and Carol Chiles had UB’s best scores of 9.75. This was a personal best for Chiles.

On Floor, Bridgeport’s Randi Cutolo improved on her score of a day before to take first flipping to a 9.875. Her teammate Brittany Capozzi hit a 9.8 personal best, and Hargrave had one of her own with a 9.775, a score shared with Comport.

UB’s Kelsey Campbell had the highest All Around score of the day scoring a 38.1 to Dudley’s 37.850.
