Gymnastics: Season Highs Abound as Brockport visits Springfield

SPRINGFIELD, MA-In ECAC Division 3 action Sunday afternoon, the Brockport Golden Eagles scored a 188.125 and the Springfield College Pride put up a 183.9 on a day with numerous individual accomplishments.

Springfield’s Marissa DeAngelo posted career bests on Balance Beam, Uneven Bars, and in the All Around (according to Springfield Sports Information) as she scored a 9.725 on Beam, a 9.55 on Bars and a 38.175 in the AA.

Brockport’s Bridgette Schaal won vault with a season high 9.525 edging DeAngelo’s 9.5. Brockport’s Brittany Vasile (a season high as well) and Springfield’s Heather Gomes scored a 9.450.

On Uneven Bars, Briana Kerr of SC posted a season high 9.575 to win the event. DeAngelo tied for second, and Maddie O’Braitis of Brockport was third scoring a 9.525.

DeAngelo won Beam with her score. Lily Jagodzinski of Brockport placed second holding steady with a 9.7, and her teammate Jennifer Sklenar had a 9.675. Both of those scores were season highs for the Golden Eagles.

Jagodzinski won Floor with a 9.7, topping fellow Golden Eagles Vasile and Candis Kowalik who posted season high 9.6s. Springfield’s best came from DeAngelo again with her 9.4.

SC’s Ashley Parchinski had a season high of 9.6 on the Beam as well and Jenna Croteau and Jessica Clemens put up season highs on Floor as well.

Candis Kowalik and Jennifer Sklenar both vaulted to season highs of 9.425. Caitlin Elsadek swung to a 9.425 season high on Uneven Bars and Marla Thomas earned a season high as well. Kowalik’s 9.65 on Beam was a season high as was Kendal Hamer’s 9.5.

Next week Springfield hosts their “Tumble for Teal” meet versus Cortland, SCSU, and Brown, on Sunday January 31st at 1pm. Brockport hosts Ithaca on January 30th.
