SPRINGFIELD, MA- Jenn Najuch’s collegiate head coaching career began with a win Saturday afternoon at Blake Arena as her Springfield Pride posted a 182.850. Fellow D3 Rhode Island College put up a 176.1 when all was said and done. In addition to the coaching transition Springfield’s lineup was adjusting to the loss of numerous seniors.

Junior Marissa DeAngelo stepped up to have a solid day. She shared the lead on Vault with teammate freshman Heather Gomes as each posted a 9.475. On the Bars she posted a 9.475, Beam a 9.550, and Floor a 9.55 on the way to a 38.050 All Around Title.
Fellow junior Nicole Silva had a 9.425 on the Vault and 9.525 on the Floor for the team and the meet’s second highest scores on each event respectively. The Vault was favorable to the Pride as their 47.025 was the best of their efforts.
Over on the Bars, sophomore Brianna Kerr posted a 9.3 for 2nd place. On the Beam, freshman Jessica Clemens had a 9.4 for second on that event. Clemens also had a 9.4 on the Vault. Lauren White, a sophomore, was fourth on the treacherous beam with her 9.2. Clemens put up a 36.050 for second in the all around.
Victoria Costello of RIC was tops on her team on the Vault picking up a 9.4, edging Allie DiBiase’s 9.35. RIC would also post their best event score of 46.1 on the runway. Courtney Osborn was RIC’s leader on the Uneven Bars. Miranda Murphy was the best RIC performer on the balance beam posting a 9.25 for third place. Osborn was fifth with her 9.1 and she also finished third on Floor scoring a 9.1. Osborn’s 35.975 was third among all arounders.
Next weekend Springfield travels down to division 2 Southern Connecticut State and Rhode Island College will be at division 2 West Chester.
