Women’s Hockey Wednesday on Friday

A busy weekend in hockey among teams I follow. Let’s take a look.

CWHL

The Clarkson Cup is underway in Markham. Boston swept Toronto and Montreal swept Calgary as Charline Labonte shut out the Inferno in both games. Boston meets Montreal in the one game final Saturday afternoon.

The field for the Clarkson Cup was set by this past weekend’s action. Boston beat Montreal twice, and Calgary beat Brampton twice as well. [CWHL Release]

College Hockey

Quinnipiac defeated Princeton in the ECAC Quarterfinals to advance to the Semifinals to take on Harvard. [DFP Sports Report] [Q30 TV Report]

Yale was defeated by Harvard to end their ECAC tournament run. [Yale Report]

Trinity defeated Williams to advance to the NESCAC Semifinals this weekend. [Trinity Report]

 

EWHL

The Vienna Sabres defeated Budapest 6-3 on February 28th, and 4-1 on March 1st. [Google translated version of the Sabres site.]

Goals on March 1st were scored by Anna Meixner who had 2, Esther Kantor, and Kaitlin Spurling.

Goals on the 28th were tallied by Katharina Heuberger and Anna Meixner who each had 2, Anna Hanser and Regan Boulton.

Victoria Vigilanti was in goal in both games to pick up the wins.

The Sabres posted an image gallery on their facebook page.

The Sabres take on the Bolzano Eagles in the EWHL finals on March 7th and 8th (their time.)

Russia

Agidel Ufa defeated Spartak Merkuriy in two games the past weekend by a 5-2 margin in both games.
