Routine Matters 2-25-15

A lot happened involving area teams this past weekend. Here’s a list with some short summaries [fair use intended]. The full releases from schools have all the details you need. 

 

Penn scored a 193.725 to win the Ivy Classic Title. Wynne Levy won the vault title with her 9.775 and Megan Finck had 9.85 on floor. Also, Emily Shugan swung to a 9.8 on Bars.  [Penn Release] Shugan won an ECAC Rookie of the Week award for her efforts. [Release]

Ursinus scored a team and possibly Division 3 record of 192.625. Ursinus set their new team record on Vault of 48.075, Bars of 47.950, and Floor with 48.6 as well. Kaelin Ruoss also had a new team record in the all-around when she posted a 38.5. Monique Brooks scored a 9.8 on Floor and Kristin Aichele had a 9.8 on Beam. [Ursinus Highlights] [Ursinus Release] (Note: Kristen Watkins is theorizing it may be a D3 record. New Hampshire posted a 194.1 at West Virginia. Meghan Pflieger won her 6th straight all around. Kelsey Aucoin and Kayla Gray each scored 9.8’s on beam. [UNH Release]

Brown finished second at the Ivy Classic. Jorden Mitchell won the all-around title with a 38.65, Caroline Morant won the Bars and Floor titles with 9.875’s on each. [Brown Release]  This earned Mitchell and Morant ECAC awards. [Release]

Bridgeport tallied a 192.575 at UCLA’s Pauley Pavilion. Kimberly Stewart vaulted to a 9.875 and Sasha Tsikhanovich flipped to a 9.8 on floor. [Bridgeport Release] This week, Tsikhanovich also won the ECAC Coaches Choice Award. [Official Release]

Rutgers picked up a 194.825 at WVU after the Scarlet Knights scored a 193.950 at NC State two days before. At West Virginia, Claire Jones scored 9.825 on Floor and Beam. Jenna Williams had a 9.825 on Beam as well. At NC State, Jones scored a 9.875 on floor and Luisa Leal and Sahara Gipson both tallied a 9.825 on Vault.  [RU at WVU] [RU at NC State]

Yale acquired a 192.225 at Ivies. Brittney Sooksengdao won the Ivy beam title with her solid 9.8. Joyce Li put together a 38.55 all-around score. [Yale Release] Also, Allison Bushman had a career high and Yale posted video. Soonksengdao won an ECAC Specialist of the Week award for her performance. [Release]

On the women’s side, Springfield set team records and Lauren Pocius (37.950 in the all-around), Abby Clark (9.7 on beam), and Marissa DeAngelo (38.025 in the all-around, 9.6 on beam, 9.575 on floor) set career bests at West Chester. Adding to the high performances, Freshman Brianna Kerr posted a 9.6 on bars. [Springfield Release] [Official release.]

Rhode Island College posted their best score in ten years with a 179.950 [RIC Release][Highlight Video][Facebook photo gallery]

Southern Connecticut posted a school record 191.625 at Brown a week ago. [SCSU Release] Kilmurray won an ECAC award. [Release]

Cornell put up a 191.175 at Ivies. Courtney Spitzer scored a 9.8 on Bars and Alicia Bair finished 6th on Vault. [Cornell Release] Spitzer also won an ECAC Rookie of the Week award. [Release]

West Chester scored a 191.7 versus Springfield. Majesta Valentine posted a 9.75 on vault and 9.725 on floor. Meghan Brannon got a 9.725 on Bars and Selena Swanger earned a career high in all-around of 38.450. [WCU Release] [WCU has posted all their routines on youtube.] Here’s a link to just one of them: 

Swanger, Brannon, and Rachel Blair all earned ECAC awards this week. [Release]

Brockport scored a 191.050 at home versus Cortland. Lexi King tumbled to a 9.825 on Floor, Amanda Carney had a 9.8 and Lily Jagodzinski held steady on the beam to gain a 9.7. [Brockport Release] [A replay of the event is online.]

Cortland scored a 186.375 at Brockport. Elise Konikoff hit 9.7 to tie for the Beam win and Bailey Gildemeyer scored a 9.7 on floor. [Cortland Release]

Ithaca got a 187.5 at RIC [Ithaca Release] Kendra Balcerak won a Specialist of the Week award. [Release] Ithaca shared photos on their facebook page.

University of Rhode Island Club hosted their first meet of the season. [Photos are up on their Facebook page.]

MIT Club hosted a meet as well.

Rutgers Club was at Cornell. [They have posted all their routines on youtube.] [Their facebook includes results.]
