Japan Basketball: Grouses and Gunma split!

The Nagoya Antelopes and the Chiba Jets were off this past weekend, but the Toyama Grouses took on the Gunma Crane Thunders and split their two game series.

On the 14th the Grouses won 80 to 61.

Masashi Joho posted 13 and Joe Werner had 12 points and 10 rebounds. Sam Willard scored 10, but also had 16 rebounds and 3 steals on the day. Keyon Carter tallied 11, and had 8 rebounds of his own. Jamelle Horne contributed 9 points and 7 rebounds. Takeshi Mito had 11 as well.

For Gunma, Carlos Dixon had 15 with 4 steals. New arrival Andre Murray had 12, Melvin Ely had 11, as well as 9 rebounds and 4 blocks. Yusuke Kodera tallied 9 as well, Daniel Northern grabbed 8 rebounds and Masashi Obuchi snagged 4 steals.

On the 15th Gunma gained the upper hand winning 77-73.

Carter led the Grouses with 17 as well as 2 blocks. Horne put up 14, 6 rebounds, and 2 blocks of his own. Joho had 13, including 3 three pointers, (though he missed 6). Willard also had 13, and 6 rebounds. Tatsunori Fujie added 9.

For Gunma, Dixon scored 21 and had 9 boards. Norther put up 15 plus 2 blocks, Ely had 10, Yosuke Sugawara 8, and Obuchi 7.
