Gymnastics: West Chester edges Springfield

SPRINGFIELD, MA- D2 West Chester came up to D3 Springfield Friday night and the result was a close meet indeed as the Rams put up a 187.575 to the Pride’s 186.525. SC’s Lauren Pocius won the All Around with her 37.625 edging Majesta Valentine of WCU who had a 37.450. Springfield’s Abby Clark wasn’t far behind either and put up a 37.1.

On Vault, Valentine took first scoring a 9.75, Selena Swanger also of West Chester had a 9.6 Nicole Silva, Pocius and Clark tied for third as they led their team with 9.45s.

On the Bars, WCU’s Meghan Brannon was first thanks to a 9.675, just .25 ahead of SC’s school record holder Pocius, and Emily Seigel of the Rams was third with a 9.6

Beam was not friendly to either team, but Nikki Caradonna of Springfield took first as she snagged a 9.6. Clark was second with a 9.5, and Cecelia Lorenzen was West Chester’s best performer with a 9.45.

On the Floor Pocius finished strong flipping to a 9.625. Clark was second with a 9.55, and Kristen Torres of WCU scored a 9.55.
