NEW HAVEN, CT- Bentley and Southern Connecticut met in a 9 inning affair to close out their doubleheader sunday afternoon. SCSU’s Cole Bryant was on the mound against Bentley’s John Yohe and later Connor Root. Bryant would give way to SCSU’s Pat Egan in the ninth. There was no scoring through four innings of the game, and that was helped by SCSU’s Michael Cleary saving an extra base hit with a big dive in center field. In the bottom of the fifth, Nick Baviello got on base with a single for the Owls, and Cleary knocked him to third thanks to a double. Up came A.J. Rouleau who knocked the ball into left field, driving in both. That would be the extent of the scoring. SCSU threatened more runs late in the game with the bases loaded and two outs, but Bentley escaped. Still the resulting win was theirs.
