Baseball: Holy Cross defeats Yale 7-4

WEST HAVEN, CT- In the first game of a double header with Holy Cross the Yale Bulldogs fell 7 to 4 at Yale Field Sunday night. The Crusaders got on board with 7 runs in the the first two innings to Yale’s 3. In the bottom of the 2nd the last run of the game was scored when Yale’s Kevin Fortunato hit into the outfield scoring Jacob Hunter

There was some fireworks late in the game however as Yale attempted to make things happen, Tom O’Neill raced to first after a weak grounder to the third base side. He reached first as the throw arrived, but was called out. Yale Head Coach John Stuper emerged from the dugout and gave the first base ump a scream, only to get himself ejected.

Holy Cross starter Chris Kono pitched until the 7th before being relieved by Andrew Boyce. Yale starter Cale Hanson gave up seven runs and gave way to Ben Joseph who held the Crusaders scoreless and nearly hitless. Holy Cross got their 7 runs on 7 hits. Yale had 7 hits as well but added only 4 runs to show for it.

Yale dropped to 1-12 on the season and Holy Cross is now 5-13.
