NEW HAVEN, CT- D3 Springfield College, and Rhode Island College took on the host Division 2 Southern Connecticut State Owls Sunday afternoon. Southern prevailed in the team competition scoring a 188.7 to Springfield’s 184.525 and RIC’s 171.650. Springfield found success in the individual competition though a swell as Kristin Feliu took the Vault scoring a 9.55 edging Southern’s Meghan Cole and her 9.525. Lauren Pocius of SC took the Bars with her 9.55. SCSU’s Rachel de la Torre second scoring a personal best of 9.475.
On the Beam, Cole took first with a 9.675 edging her teammate Nicole Pruchnik’s 9.650. Both scores were personal bests. On the floor SCSU’s Brianna Ecklof tied a personal best flipping to a 9.7 and her teammate Chelcie Rosborough had a 9.675 to post a personal best of her own.
Cole also posted a 37.8 in the All Around to capture first. Pocius was second with a 37.1.
In addition to those who placed, Samantha Menichini, Meagan Puccio, and de la Torre had personal bests on Vault. Ecklof posted a personal best on the Bars and Deni Morgan, Emily Shelton, and Jenny Kaufman all had Beam personal bests. All five SCSU counted scores were personal bests on the normally precarious balance beam. Cole also posted a personal best on the Floor.
In a few weeks SCSU will host their senior day meet. Springfield is building towards ECAC championships the same day.
