Women’s Gymnastics: Alaska at Bridgeport

BRIDGEPORT, CT- The Bridgeport Purple Knights opened their season at home picking up the 191.450 to 187.425 victory over the Alaska Anchorage Seawolves. In the All Around, Sasha Tsikhanovich of UB took 1st with a 39.00, her teammate Lissette La Fex posted a 38.525, and Melissa Doucette, also of UB, took a 37.725 score. Morgan Cook of UAA had a 37.5 and Simone Penker a 37.450.

Tsikhanovich and fellow Purple Knight Natalie Saimeri posted 9.85s to win Vault. La Fex and Alaska’s M’rcy Matsunami posted 9.8. Doucette and Kamri Riles of UB and Marie-Sophie Boggasch of UAA had 9.7s.

La Fex won the Bars with her 9.725, Tsikhanovich was second with a 9.65 and teammate Goldberg posted a 9.575. Boggasch was the top scorer for the Seawolves thanks to a 9.375.

On Beam, Tsikhanovich posted the top score again scoring a 9.725 on a low scoring event for both teams. Emily Petersen of UAA was second after scoring a 9.475 and La Fex’s 9.45 was good for third.

On the Floor, Riles and Tsikhanovich each took first scoring 9.775s. Jenna Hamala-Smith of UB scored a 9.675 to place. Cook was UAA’s top scorer with a 9.625.
