Cortland and Springfield posts season highs on Super Sunday

SPRINGFIELD, MA- In a ECAC Division 3 contest, the Red Dragons of Cortland defeated the Springfield College Pride, on a day filled with individual merits for both teams. Cortland picked up a season high 187.525, and Springfield’s 185.530 also was a season best.

Cortland’s Marissa Goodstein took vault thanks to a 9.775, her teammate Ashley Fleming had a 9.55, and Sarah Nadrowski rounded out the top 3 with her 9.475. Brittany Baglow led Springfield scoring a 9.450 and Abby Clark set a 9.375 as a new personal best right behind her.

Over on the Uneven Bars, where scores were low all around, Megan Phelan of Cortland took first with a 9.35, SC’s Lauren Pocius had a 9.325, and Nadrowski a 9.3.

On the Beam, Baglow and Clark each tied personal bests with a 9.6 and 9.5 respectively. Courtney Mangini of Cortland tied Clark for second as well. Nadrowski’s 9.475 was the third highest score of the meet on that event and Fleming hit a 9.425 as well. Cortland still set a season high of 46.650 overall on the event.

Finally on Floor, Baglow’s 9.775 set a new personal high, and teammate Carly Flynn took second thanks to a 9.675 tying her personal best. Stephanie Sladky and Courtney Mangini also tied for second thanks to their scores. Annmarie Graziosa of SC and Nadrowski each posted 9.625s as well. The 47.925 on Floor was SC’s best score of the season.

In the all around, Baglow’s 37.975 was a new personal high and edged Nadrowski’s 37.875. Mangini also posted a 37.00 on the day.

Next week Cortland heads to Rutgers, and Springfield travels down to Yale as the season continues.
