BRIDGEPORT, CT- The Purple Knights hosted their first home meet of the season and came away with a 194.625 which is a new school record to pick up the win over Towson who scored a 192.475. Individually however each team had plenty to smile about.

Bridgeport’s best event of the day was a 48.975 on Floor led by Monica Mesalles Sallares and Emily Repko’s 9.850s, as well as Kamri Riles adding a 9.775 and Caitlin Perry and Jessie Watts each posting 9.750s. Towson’s Kacy Catanzaro posted a 9.75 to lead her team, Avis Hixon had a 9.650, and Samantha Lutz and Lindsay Poplaski added 9.6s to a 48.175 score.
Towson’s highest scoring event of Vault (with a 48.375) was also a very good one for Bridgeport as they picked up a 48.9. Riles and Mesalles Sallares each had 9.85s, Poplaski had a 9.8. Perry a 9.775, Hixon a 9.75, UB’s Natalie Saimeri and Catanzaro had 9.725s and Emily Turik rounded out Bridgeport’s counted scores with a 9.7.
Each team found their lowest scores on Bars, though Catanzaro and Turik each took the event with 9.825s. Lissette La Fex had a 9.75 for the second highest Bars score of the day, with Sasha Tsikhanovich, and Hixon following that score wise.
On the Beam, Repko’s 9.8 was the high score of the meet, Catanzaro and Hixon each had 9.75s, Mesalles Sallares followed with a 9.725, and Le Fex had a 9.7.
In the all around, Catanzaro’s 39.050 edged Mesalles Sallares who posted a 38.975. Hixon’s 38.750 wasn’t far behind that and Poplaski added a 38.475 as well.
Both are leading teams in the ECAC are looking to continue their success the rest of the season.
