PISCATAWAY, NJ- Rutgers returned home to Livingston Gym Saturday afternoon to welcome in nearby Temple, the Southern Connecticut State Owls from up I-95, and Division 3 Ursinus in a quad meet that would give RU their first win of the season and Head Coach Louis Levine his first win in that position.

Rutgers took first with a 192.075 score, Temple came second posting a 190.800, SCSU added a 186.100 a week after setting two records at Springfield, and Ursinus scored a 179.900. RU won 3 of 4 events (48.225-Vault, 47.675-Bars, 48.775, Floor) but Temple scored a 48.125 on Beam to prevent that sweep. SCSU’s highest scoring event was on vault as they posted a 47.550, and they added a 47.025 on the Floor. Ursinus had 45.6 on Bars for their best event of the day scoring wise.

On Vault Alexis Gunzelman of Rutgers had a 9.725. Her teammate Sara Skammer added a 9.7 and tied with Rebecca Brady of SCSU for second. Katie Canning of Temple had a 9.675, and Danielle D’Elia of RU, Sylvie Borschel, and Jasmine Johnson of Temple, Alyssa Straub of Rutgers, and Natali Ruzich of Temple filled in behind them scoring 9.6 or better. Kristin Aichele had the top vault score for Ursinus posting a 9.5.

On the Bars, Gunzelman took first with a 9.825, Skammer’s 9.7 was second, Gabriella Hude of SCSU and Canning tied for third with a 9.6. Monica Durham’s 9.45 was the best score for Ursinus.

Over on the Beam, Borschel of TU took the event with a 9.8, Corinne Williams had a 9.725, and Canning a 9.650 for a Temple top 3 sweet. Anatasia Halbig posted a 9.625 for fourth. SCSU’s Allan Laecca had a 9.375 for her team’s best which was also Aichele’s score to lead Ursinus.

On the climactic Floor, Jenna Zito led the meet and Rutgers with a 9.85, Gunzelman’s 9.825 was second, Williams had a 9.8 for third. Romano, Johnson, and D’Elia all scored 9.7 or more. Brianna Ecklof led Southern with her 9.55, and Stephanie Schmidt posted a 9.375 to lead Ursinus.

In the highly competitive all around, Gunzelman took it thanks to a 38.925. Canning was second with a 38.550, and Williams third with a 38.000.
