STORRS,CT- In the second game of the Nutmeg Classic, the Robert Morris Colonials and Yale Bulldogs went at it. RMU came in having lost only one game all season and Yale won only one, but the two teams would remain scoreless through 2. Each side had picked up 3 penalties in that time, but neither team capitalized on their power plays. After two periods RMU had put 19 shots on goal, and Yale had 8. This was up from RMU’s 12 in period 1, and 2 for Yale.

When Madi Murray of Yale was called for body checking at 1:54 in period 3, Robert Morris went on another power play and capitalized at 3:04 as Thea Imbrogno moved in front and shot it past the goaltender, assisted by Rebecca Vint as the Colonials swarmed the zone. That would be the extent of the scoring. RMU finished up the game with 31 shots on goal, and Yale had 13. Robert Morris spent a lot of time in the Yale zone, but defensive and goaltender play averted further scoring.

Yale goaltender Genny Ladiges came up with critical saves amidst her 30 throughout despite the one goal. For Robert Morris, Kristen DiCiocco shut out the Bulldogs making 13 saves. RMU goes on to face Quinnipiac in the championship Saturday night, Yale takes on UConn prior to that.
