DURHAM, NH-There were positives for both teams during Rutgers visit to UNH continuing the tradition of the two teams meeting to open each season. For the Wildcats a 194.500 earned them a win and a high place in the rankings to open things up, for Rutgers a none too shabby 191.875 in their 1st meet of the 2011 campaign.

UNH’s Chelsea Steinberg was 1st in the All Around scoring a 38.950 edging Rutger’s Jenna Zito and her 38.425. In third Luisa Maria Leal-Restrepo of the Scarlet Knights with a 38.00.

On the vault it was Steinberg sticking her vault and scoring a 9.8 that took 1st, teammate Katie Caliendo had a 9.750, and fellow ‘Cats Jillian Hudson and Austyn Fobes had 9.725s. Over on the Uneven Bars, Danielle Reibold and Fobes each had 9.825s for UNH, Jen Aucoin and Ali Carr posted 9.800’s for the home team as well, and Danielle D’Elia of Rutgers had the third highest score of 9.725.

On the treacherous Beam, Reibold took her second event of the day scoring a 9.8, Steinberg had a 9.725, and UNH’s Janelle Minichiello added a 9.650. On floor, Fobes took 1st scoring a 9.875, teammate’s Courtney Connors and Erin Machado each had 9.775s, and Tasia Percevecz and Steinberg rounded out the top 3 scoring with 9.750s putting all 5 counted UNH scores in the top 3.

And thus the season begins!
