UNH posts a 194.975, Brown 188.3 on a day of personal bests.

The Uneven Bars punctuated a high scoring day for UNH, while Brown set a new high on Beam.

DURHAM, NH- After a road trip to Mizzou last week, the UNH Wildcats were back in Lundholm Gymnasium to host the Brown Bears. Brown was off this past week and is continuing the march to the Ivy Classic in two weeks. The result was 194.975 for UNH narrowly missing the 195 but bolstered by some high scoring routines especially on Bars and Floor. Brown posted a 188.3 and a piece of news from this meet is despite having struggled on beam in past meets, they posted their highest team score of the meet on that event with a 47.575.

In the individual marks, UNH’s Chelsea Steinberg tied a personal record on the Vault to win the event for the day, fellow Wildcat Helena Diodati’s 9.8 came in 2nd, and New Hampshire freshman Courtney Connors set a new personal best with a 9.775. Teammate’s Kelsey Alwin and Katie Caliendo tied for fourth and Emily Lutfey lead the Bears with a 9.6 and finished in the top 6.

Over on the Bars, the Wildcats would have a huge day, with Ali Carr, Helena Diodati, and Katie Lawrence all posting personal bests with their scores of 9.95, 9.925, and 9.85 respectively. Danielle Reibold’s 9.825, and Chelsea Steinberg’s 9.750 also added to the grand total of 49.3. Izzy Kirkham-Lewitt was the top Brown finisher with a 9.450 to finish 6th.

On the Beam, UNH’s Taryn LaFountain took first with a 9.875, Steinberg was 2nd with a 9.850, Diodati was 9.775. Brown picked up the next 3 spots with Julia Meyer’s 9.7, Emily Lutfey’s 9.675, and Izzy Kirkham-Lewitt’s 9.6.

On the Floor, UNH’s Julie Sauchuk hit a personal best of 9.925, Steinberg added one of her own with a 9.9, and Tasia Percevecz hit a 9.775 also good for a personal best, to take the top three spot. Freshman Austyn Fobes scored a 9.725 to tie her existing personal best as well. Brown’s Nicole Abdo joined the top 6 party with her 9.675 as did teammates Katie Goddard and Emily Lutfey who scored 9.625s.

Steinberg who has already been setting high scores in the All Around, set another with a 39.350 personal high to win the title. Brown’s Emily Lutfey put up a 37.750, and Chelsey Binkley a 36.8.

The results will continue to add to UNH’s standings in the ongoing goal to stay within the top 36 teams that qualify to regionals. Brown received good news and bad news at the meet as the countdown to the Ivy Classic Continues. Next week UNH is at Michigan State and Brown will head off to Alaska.
