Southern Connecticut travelled up to central Massachusetts and picked up the victory Saturday afternoon posting a 188.4.
Due to the other meet in Bridgeport, I was only up there briefly but did get to see SCSU start off on the Uneven Bars. Justine Basley put up a 9.7 and anchor Sarah Darst added a 9.65. Samantha Laraway, Arianna Mallardi, and Taylor Murray added to the posted scores solidly.
On the Vault, it was Southern’s lowest score of the meet but still a solid 46.475. Murray and Basley led the way with a 9.45, Briana DiPinto added a 9.375, and Michelle Steel and Jessica Kiback added 9.1s to round out the scoring.
On the Floor, SoCo put the hammer down leading to a 48.15. DiPinto hit a 9.775, with Basley behind her with a 9.675, Caitlin Briere notched a 9.625, Darst in a rare appearance scored a 9.55, and Mallardi had a 9.525.
On the Beam, the Owls picked up a 47 thanks to Dipinto’s 9.625, Murray’s 9.525, Kiback’s 9.4, Briere’s 9.3, and Alanna Laecca’s 9.05.
If Southern and their D2 rival Bridgeport keep up this kind of scoring it’s going to be an exciting race to the D2 ECAC Championships!
