The Week Ahead.

By David F.P.

The week ahead in New England College Gymnastics will be a busy one with four meets Saturday January 10th at 1PM.

Southern Connecticut opens up the season at D3 Springfield. It will be the first competition for the Owls to try out their new lineup and see how the new additions will do mixed with the veterans.

Bridgeport is having their team selection meet which is a mystery as to what that means, but presumably given it’ll affect the lineup composition the following week.

Rutgers at New Hampshire, Durham, NH.
The two EAGL teams will open up the season at UNH. The Wildcats will unveil their lineup from a vast array of gymnasts, upper and underclassmen alike. The road to try to get back to regionals begins on Saturday. Rutgers will likely have the same goal and will also will be utilizing a large roster. It should be an important meet in sizing up where the two teams stand in the EAGL picture.

Yale, Ursinus, SUNY Cortland, Wilson at MIT, Cambridge MA.
MIT opens the season with a bang hosting a handful of teams including D1 Yale, and D3 ECAC teams as well.

Yale is likely looking to work towards an Ivy League title and maybe more as they bring in a large freshman class to augment their returnees.

Ursinus is the reigning D3 ECAC Champions and SUNY Cortland is part of a tough trio of teams from New York.

Wilson will bring their unique style to Cambridge as well.

For MIT, they lost two key seniors from last year, but have a mix of veterans and newcomers as well who will unveil their routines for the first time this year.

Not only will there be a peek at how the ECAC D3s may shape up but also how Yale will perform in its first competitive meet of the year led by senior Captain Alina Liao.

(Note: Springfield is mentioned in the context of being where SCSU will have a meet. No endorsement of Springfield College is stated nor implied with regards to any aspect of collegiate athletics.
