Catching up on the race to regionals.

teams2.jpg A lot has happened since ECAC’s a few weeks ago, with regionals on the horizon here’s a brief summary of the past few weeks especially involving New England the northeastern teams.

In the northeast region, only Michigan and Penn State qualified to regionals. Among individual qualifiers, Marissa Rosen from Penn, Alina Liao from Yale, Shannon Vafiadou from Pitt, Lorraine Galow from D2 Bridgeport, Laura Sevarino from Rutgers qualified in the All Around, with Maddie Pearsall from Cornell as an alternate.

Individual event specialists included UNH’s Helena Diodati on Vault and the Uneven Bars. On the Beam, Diodati’s teammate Taryn LaFountain qualified, and on the Floor Molly Moyer from Pitt qualified. UNH also produced three alternates, Justine Turner (Vault), Rebekah Porter (Bars), Chelsea Steinberg (Beam) and D3 Brockport’s Lauren Gildemeyer was an alternate on Floor.

Before the regional selections came down it was championship season.

EAGLS: West Virginia’s 196.050 gave them 1st place. NC State 2nd, UNH 3rd, UNC 4th, Maryland 5th, Pitt 6th, George Washington 7th, Rutgers 8th.

ECACS: Towson repeated as champion for another year with a 193.950, URI came in 2nd with a 192.225, in what was their final meet…for now…, Cornell 3rd, William & Mary 4th, Temple 5th, Penn 6th, Yale 7th, Brown 8th.

ECAC Division 2: SCSU wins with a 187.625, Bridgeport 2nd with a 187.2, WCU 3rd.
