Southern Connecticut State Owls at Springfield College Pride w/MIT Club Team
February 21st, 5pm, Blake Arena, Springfield, MA
(This will be updated further after SCSU’s meet at Yale) (Sources, Troester, Athletic Sources, Eyewitness Accounts)
One day after taking on Bridgeport and Yale, SCSU will be up in Springfield to take on the Pride in a rematch from earlier this year when they both met at Moore Fieldhouse in New Haven. SCSU edged Springfield, in that early season meet, though it could be a close one up at Blake Arena. The individual scoring could very well be close as well. SCSU is coming off a 185.850 at the Big Red Invitational last week at Cornell and Springfield’s 183 at Yale was their best road score of the season. The MIT Club Team will also be at SC that evening continuing to keep the sport alive at their institution. It is less relevant to compare the scores of MIT to the varsity teams, though the difficulty levels vary. MIT competes against many of the other club teams in the region.
As the team scoring indicates, SC has had their struggles on Beam and Bars, but on Floor and Vault they have been scoring well and actually can outscore SCSU’s top score on both events, though SCSU has plenty of fireworks on Floor especially and is bolstered by a strong Bars rotation lead by Sarah Darst.
Team High Scoring:
SCSU: Team 187.275, Vault 46.925, Bars 47.125, Beam 46.125, Floor 47.325
